Camille Rose Naturals Deep Conditioner Review
When it comes to deep conditioning my hair, I am very critical of the product. The 3 products in my regimen that I am never satisfied with and am on a never ending search for the best are: deep conditioners, leave-in conditioners, and stylers such as puddings and twisting butters. I do have my favorites in these categories but I always have a nagging feeling that there is something better out there which is why I have a rather 'large' collection of products. Today I am reviewing the Camille Rose Naturals Algae Renew Deep Conditioner. This is not a new brand or product but it is new to me and the first of the Camille Rose line I decided to try. This deep conditioner can be purchased at Target or ordered online.
Algae Renew Deep Conditioner is an intense conditioning treatment infused with blue green algae. The company states algae is known to stop hair from thinning, breaking, and shedding on contact. If you've been following my journey, I had a set back in October and had 2" plus cut off due to damaged and broken ends. I can't say if this stopped my hair from breaking because I've been doing a combination of things to help repair and strengthen my hair but I can say this is an intense conditioning treatment. My hair has never been so shiny as a result of using a deep conditioner. The conditioner is noted for having cocoa and mango butters blended in for extra conditioning.
The consistency is of a thick, smooth, creamy butter that melts into your hair on contact. I found myself needing to use 1/2 of the jar for one application to cover my head due to the thickness of the conditioner. I applied it to damp, freshly washed hair and sat under my steamer for 30 min. My final rinse was with cool water and I couldn't believe how soft and well conditioned my hair felt. I kept going back in running more water on my hair thinking I didn't rinse it all out! In the picture below, you can see how shiny my hair was after using this product! The smell reminds me of chocolate and isn't too loud or overbearing.
This DC is loaded with great ingredients that all have conditioning, strengthening and repairing properties for the hair. As I mentioned in my 2014 Hair Goals post, this year I am focused on length retention and having healthy, stronger hair with no more breakage and damaged ends. So, any product that fits that criteria is on my radar, all natural or not. Here are the ingredients of the DC so feel free to do your own research. I recommend this DC although it's not the most economical product, I would love to see how my hair responds with continued use.
Ingredients: Deoinized water, aloe vera juice, butyrospermum parkii(shea)butter, cocos nucifera (coconut oil), behentrimonium methosulfate (BTMS) cetyl alcohol, theobroma cacao (cocoa)butter, mangifera indica(mango)seed butter, cannabis sativa(hemp) seed oil, di panthenol, mel(manuka)honey, vegetable glycerin, camellia sinensis )green tea) extract, simmondsia chinensia(jojoba) seed oil, rosa canina(rose hip) fruit oil, bitis vinifera(grape)seed oil, oenothera biennis(evening primrose) oil, phenoxyethanol and capryly glycol(optiphen), blue green algae, dimethyl sulfone (msm), biotin, tocopheryl acetate(vitamin E), mentha piperita (peppermint)oil, scent andLOVE!
